2021; after using breathwork for improved sleep, energy and athletic performance
My introduction to breathwork was purely by chance. It was 2015, I was 23, and one breathing method found its way into my life. It was like a wedge, prying me away from the person I thought I was and offering an answer to the daily struggles I faced. It carried immense potential. It was the how I had been searching for.
I was hooked. Like a Master in a Samurai film, it shook me to my core—testing me, opening me up, and showing me that a new life was possible.
Back then, the term "breathwork" wasn’t even a thing. I wasn’t aware of the vastness of what was out there. All I knew was this one method, and at that time, it was exactly what I needed.
After years of practice and study (including two trips to Holland and Poland for training), I became a certified instructor in this method by 2018. It helped me understand myself better than anything before. I learned the language of my body and how to respond to its needs. My sleep improved. My health flourished. My stress balanced. I was growing.
Teaching breathing mechanics
By 2022, I was one of Australia’s leading instructors, having taught 2,000+ people across 200+ workshops. But I started to notice something: I was outgrowing this one method.
I had questions—big ones—that extended beyond the limitations of any single technique. What are the fundamental laws of breathwork? How does breathing actually work? What universal principles connect the hundreds of techniques out there?
Teaching only one method started to feel like being a personal trainer who only teaches people how to squat. It works, but it’s limited, incomplete and singles out groups of people.
These questions ignited a new phase of my journey: understanding the core principles of breathwork. These principles aren’t about a single method but the why and how that underpin every breathing technique. They are the missing link in so many breathwork offerings today.

In theory, yes - if you know what to look for. Youtube is fantastic for generalised learning, what it lacks however is a concise, structured format. The majority of the educational content within Breathwork for Beginners is not available on Youtube.
95% of the practical exercises do not require any tools. The rest require a tape measure, a timer/stopwatch, a belt, and something heavy like a weight plate/kettlebell.
